Lifestyle Family Newborn Prep Guide

Lifestyle in home Newborn Session Prep Guide

Thank you for welcoming me into your home to capture these precious moments with your newborn and family. I'm truly honored and excited to create memories for you to cherish.

Relax and feel comfortable in your home. There's no need to tidy up a whole lot for my visit. If any adjustments are needed, we'll take care of them when I arrive.

Please keep the rooms comfortably warm, although it doesn't need to be overly hot. Just a cozy temperature will do, as I won't be photographing baby fully naked.

If you have any specific areas in mind for photos, feel free to share them with me beforehand. Otherwise, I'll explore once I arrive.

Sessions typically last 1-2 hours, prioritizing your baby's safety and your comfort throughout.

Expect a fun and natural approach to the session, with plenty of gentle guidance. There won't be any stiff poses or bean bags used.

Newborn Care:

About two hours before my arrival, feed your baby and then feed them again just before I arrive. If possible, try to keep your baby awake for up to an hour beforehand to encourage sleepiness, but don't worry if this isn't feasible.

I love capturing natural movements and stretches, so whether your baby is awake or asleep, it's all wonderful.

If your baby has noticeable baby acne or skin flakes, please let me know in advance. However, these natural features can also make for beautiful photos.

Family Photos:

I value capturing not just your newborn but also your family as a whole. Parents and siblings are encouraged to be present and feature in the photos.

I adore capturing the interactions between siblings and the newest family member. If young siblings need assistance, one parent can hold them whilst they hold baby.

I will guide you to poses & different ideas but I always aim for candid, natural moments that reflect your family's connection and love.

Clothing & Room Prep:

Neutral, light-colored clothing is ideal to keep the focus on your faces and interactions. Avoid bright, busy patterns that could distract from the moment.

Dads - Clean and tidy nails are recommended, as I often capture close-up hand shots.

Your baby can stay dressed in an outfit of your choice for the session. Consider having spare outfits handy, along with any special items or blankets you'd like included in the photos. We will be keeping the nappy on for our session.

For bedroom shots, consider using a light or neutral duvet cover or removing it altogether and just using your duvet inner to keep the focus on your baby.

No need for excessive tidying but lightly declutter the areas where we'll be taking photos, such as the living room and couch, master bedroom to avoid distractions.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or special requests before the session. I can't wait to document this beautiful chapter for your family.

Looking forward to meeting you,
Ivelina x
